Im bit confused about gmail.js' overlap with inboxsdk

Is gmail.js an open source version of inboxsdk minus the UI stuff?

UI is a huge part of doing chrome ext development, so does gmail.js have some kind of "add-on" that can do what inboxSDK can do?

Im guessing people are using this library b/c they dont want to be stuck on proprietary platform? Otherwise, why are people using gmail.js?

GmailJS is a 100% free, gratis, independent, open-source project.

InboxSDK is as far as I know a commercial, closed-source product.

I've never used InboxSDK, so I cannot tell to anything about potential overlap, or what product is best suited for what task.
