provide list of open source projects as reference

Adapting conan is easier when users have real-world projects to look at.

I'm currently playing with conan 2 and would like to see some real-world apps using conan 2. I've been in this situation in the past when trying out conan features.

The conan-center-index repository is a good place for referencing repackaged libraries. What I'm looking for are open source libraries and apps that are using conan.

The list could go either into the docs or be added to the "OUR USERS" display on conan.io

If I find some popular projects, I'll add them to this issue.

The truth is that Conan is way more heavily used in the enterprise environments. You can see some interesting users for example in https://conan.io/tribe.html

I agree that it would be nice to list some open source projects using Conan here too. Lets keep this issue to gather some, if a significant list is gathered, we can convert it to a section in the docs.

I suggest listing them in comments, and we can always edit the first comment and list them there if they start to accumulate.

UltiMaker Cura - made possible by Conan

Nice to get mentioned @memsharded . It could also be interesting to mention that the flexibility of Conan allows us the build Cura on 3 OSes even while our program is a mixed package consisting of Python/Qml/Sip front-end and a C++/Sip back-end.

Open source usage of Conan just took a hit in my view. JFrog informed me that in one month my free-tier artifactory account will be deleted unless I start paying for a subscription. No accommodation for open source usage as GitHub often does. It would have been helpful if they at least allowed enough free space for recipes to be uploaded so I could still grab the recipe to build it. Giving a month's notice is just a slap in the face too, that's not enough time to transition.

Anyway, I'll do my best, but https://github.com/ssrobins/conan-recipes is about to not work anymore.

The same for me. Most probably, I will need to stop providing Conan support for the mainline in mp-units when my free artifactory account is closed. I am not going to pay for it.

We also have https://jfrog.com/community/giving-back/ which is another path for Open Source projects. There is a selection process for those, however we are not involved in that so make sure to mention Conan hopefully they will loop us in 🤞
