Get ValidationException 4002 Not supported when accessing messages through API

Hello, we have a Kafbat kafka-ui deployed in your company K8 cluster and the UI works fine, for getting messages, and I can use the api to some extent but when I try to get messages, using a path: api/clusters/{clustername}/topics/{topicname}/messages I get a json error response with code 4002 not supported, and ValidationException stack trace.

Is there something I need to configure for this to work or is getting messages not supported, through API?

It seems you're using the old deprecated endpoint. Please try /messages/v2 instead

Thanks, that works. However I have problem adding a filter using the stringFilter parameter. Are there any documentation or examples on the syntax to use for this param?

ok thanks. I thought it was something like the CEL filters used in the UI (using Add Filter) but, looking at the request the UI sends, it seems to be using something like smartFilterId=9530fd82. Is this some sort of encoded string for the CEL filter that you create in the UI? If so, how do I reproduce it using the API?

smartFilterId is indeed a CEL filter id. You have to register it first, there's a separate endpoint you can find in the spec, they you can reference the filter ID.

Ah ok, so you use a different endpoint for registering a filter and then get the the ID in the response. How is this filter persisted though? It is it in-memory or stored somewhere? So if we restart the service, will the filters persist or do we have to recreate them?

They are stored in memory. Also, they're stored in browsers' local storage once created on UI, so with this combination it makes sense. If you don't use the UI, you'll have to re-register them in case of an app restart.
