Cant open md with Code.exe

Problem Description

When I try to open a markdown file via VSC it just won't let me do it. I don't know how to explain this nonsense so I am attaching here a video of what it looks like:

1.1.mp4

If you do it through Windows settings, i.e. set the .md extension to the VSC program, nothing will work either:

2.1.mp4

But, if you drag and drop the file onto the program, everything works:

3.1.mp4

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: It's not about extensions here

I suppose it is something related to portable setup.

Indeed Code.exe in default apps has a generic icon, symptom there is something wrong.
