Icons
The question came up about icon design; specifically, does Material Design allow for more colorful icons or purely limited to a line-art style (monotone) design. It appears that the latter is true, however, to pretty it up Google has started using different colors for various icons presented in the same context in certain apps, like Inbox. Examples below:
