Subcategories are not visible in the admin portal

Login as administrator
Go to the admin portal
Choose content
Choose category management
Select Add main category
Enter the data
The main category is visible
Click on the "+" sign behind the main category you just created
Enter a subcategory
The subcategory is not visible
Go to the user portal (front-end)
Choose show all categories in the navigation bar
The subcategory is visible here

Dear Thorsten,

I have found the cause of the issues, but I cannot yet figure out the solution
When I look at the database used by version 3.2.10 I see in the table faqcategory_group that all categories are assigned to group_id 2 (Adminstrators).

After the migration to version 4.0.7 this has (of course) remained unchanged, but the categories are not visible. If I change the group_id assignment in the table faqcategory_group to -1 in version 4.0.7 (I cannot find out which group this belongs to) everything is visible, but also when not logged in. So it seems that this group_is is assigned to an anonymous user
